Boehm

Manufactured: 1950 to present day

The Boehm Studios derived its name from its founder Edward Marshall Boehm. He died in 1969. Since then the studio is led by his wife and business partner Helen Boehm. They started the studio in 1950 in Trenton, New Jersey.
Remarkably neither Edward or Helen was trained in the diciplines of porcelain making. Edward Boehm only had an innate talent as a sculptor and craftsman, but also an intense desire to excel in any endeavor he attempted.
Combined with Helen's brilliant promotional and marketing concepts during the first years, the studio achieved great successes. They very quickly succeeded in gaining recognition from museum curators and connoisseurs of fine porcelain.
As early as 1951 two of Edward Boehm sculptures ware acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A Percheron Stallion and Herford Bull.
Other museums took notice of Boehm and today Boehm's work is found in 130 museums around the world including The Vatican, Buckingham palace and Elysee Palace. Many of the American presidents, starting with president and Mrs. Eisenhower utilized Boehm porcelain for gifts to visiting Heads of State. President and Mrs. Reagan have been supporters and collectors of Boehm for several decades. They maintained a large, private collection in their White House living room quarters
