History

The Harker China Company was founded in 1840 in Ohio by English immigrant Benjamin Harker Harker first produced yellow ware and Rockingham produced from local clay When Benjamin Harker died in 1847 the company was run by his sons George and Benjamin Jr In 1857 Benjamin and George separated and Benjamin operated his company with a different partner under the name Harker and Smith George operated the George S Harker Pottery Company which became the Harker Pottery Company known today
