History

The Lefton company was founded in 1940 by George Zoltan Lefton after he arrived in Chicago in 1939 as an immigrant from Hungary. Shortly after World War II the company started importing china from Japan into the U.S with the "Made in Occupied Japan" mark, used in the years following World War II.
Lefton made a wide variety of pieces, from kitchenware and utilitarian pieces to purely decorative pieces The Lefton company is still operating today
The company's marks changed over time but were used for long periods and lack any definitive dating marks
