History

In 1891 Philipp Rosenthal establishes a porcelain factory in Asch, Bohemia
The Porzellanfabrik Philipp Rosenthal & Co acquired factories in Selb, Marktredwitz, Kronach, Waldenburg, Waldershof and Sophienthal from 1897 to 1936.

The "Empire" shape is one of the first complete service-sets In 1916 its most successful shape "Maria", named after his wife is introduced Popular patterns were "Maria White" and "Moss Rose"

After WWII the factories were modernised and lost markets were re-established by Rosenthal's son, Phillip Some of the best artists of those days were attracted to the company like Hans Theo Baumann, Raymond Loewy and Raymond Peynet

Did Rosenthal buy Edelstein? If so, when? I want information re: artists who designed Edelstein figurines. I’ve been researching & believe that KUNST-ABTEILUNG means: Kunst is art in German & sometimes a surname. Abteilung (shortened Abt) is a German word often used when referring to German/ Swiss military formations (but used by Germans in a more civilian mode means “department”).

    Hi,
I am interested in knowing more about the Rosenthal dinner service that was delivered to the Vatican City State around 1930-40. Is there information about this and are there photos?
    Thanks in advance
